FIFA WORLD CUP
Sunday, June 11, 2006
It's that time of the year again after 4 years of the loong wait. Tears, fears, bets, jets, screams, victory dances, heart attacks, cuss words. Oh yes, it's the
WORLD CUP baby.
I've been a fan of football even before David and Victoria Beckham knew each other haha. 1998, France and their very bloody victory. 2002 Korea/Japan which did me proud since Asia hosted this one, Brazil wins their 5th record beating Germany, which now hosts the 2006 FIFA WORLD CUP. I don't know why, but football just gives that certain excitement. The rush when watching these players kicking soccer balls and wondering whoever's gonna score a goal is just amazing. Sometimes, it can be boring, but mostly the rush is just there.
There are 32 teams from across the world participating in this years cup and 8 groups which have 4 countries under each. My best bets are the ones in bold. My favorite teams are the ones starred.
GROUP A
- Germany
- Ecuador
- Costa Rica
- Poland
GROUP B
- England*
- Sweden
- Trinidad and Tobago
- Paraguay
GROUP C
- Argentina
- Netherlands
- Serbia and Montenegro

Ahh yes, I've been an England fan eversince. Well the asterixed teams are the ones I'm rooting for. As for Germany, Brazil and France, their status is unquestionably good already and they're automatically on anyone's list. But I wouldn't bet on France to win, it's either gonna be a very very intense final match between Germany and Brazil. I have a feeling, and I'm scared. Haha..
Okay now it's time for my favorite player.
Cristiano Ronaldo, winger number 17 of Portugal and number 7 in Manchester United (he took Beckham's number after he left for Real Madrid). I started liking him after watching his performance in 2004's Euro in Portugal. He's just amazing, the way he plays, his tactics, this guy certainly has skills. And not to mention, he's hot. :)

At yesterday's standing he was currently the 2nd placer for Gilette's Best Young Player Award for this year's World Cup. First placer was Lionel Messi of Argentina (team: Barcelona) who's just nineteen-fucking-years old and apparently a really good player. Third placer was Wayne Rooney of England (team: Manchester United). This was yesterday's stats, who knows, the stats could have changed today.
Whoa, this post is quite long for a girl who likes football. But last details, here are the standings. Credits to
